Letter to my peers from the past :)
Hello, my dear friends from the past!
I'm really happy to have an opportunity to come into contact with you. We've been being out of touch with each other for a long time, but now it's a great event that I can hold of you.Take this opportunity I'd like to talk business with you. I've chosen a very intersting topic for us. The main occupation in my life now, it's learning a foreign language, namely English. I want to tell you the differencebetween opportunities that we have now to lear English, and that we had many years ago. Of course there are a lot of changes. And all the changes are really colossal.
First of all, the English language became an official language in many countries. That's why every person who wants to develop and explore the world, should learn English in my mind. And it's more than enough possibilities to do this. If you have a desire and the Internet, you can deal with this easily. Why the Internet? Because there is everything you need: different dictionaries and vocabularies with divers functions, a lot of web-sites where you can train yourself all the time, etc.
For instance, you find some interesting word in English and you want to memorise all the synonyms of this word. Or you want to see the words that are similar in the meaning. In this case you can use a good site graphwords.com . There you can create your own maps with words. Here you can see my example with word "clap":
One more cool possibility is to create a word cloude. You chose some word that you want and then in this cloud you can see all of the collocations with your chosen word. Look at my word cloud here (I've chosen word "contact"):
If you aren't sure in which context is using some word or phrase you can check it on fraze.it . There is an example how to use the method to dispel your doubts about using some collocation in context.
"...A student response team reviews the cases of students who may need help. Reynaga-Abiko said the team takes referrals from everyone.Aside from the university-wide services, the Counseling and Psychological Services Center offers more resources for students. Reynaga-Abiko said a student is able to make an appointment at any time. In a crisis situation, the studentcan be seen right away..."
I hope this information was interesting for you. And I'd like to ask you a favour. Please, write me a respond about opportunities in learning English in your time. I think it's interesting to compare. And at last, please don't lose the contact with me.
Love, Nadia
